ISLAMABAD (AP) — A Japanese climber died and a fellow mountaineer was injured when an apparent rock fragment hit them while trying to scale one of the highest peaks in northern Pakistan, a mountaineering official and the injured climber said Tuesday. The two mountaineers from Japan were taking part in a climbing expedition organized by a local tour operator, said Karrar Haidri, secretary of the Alpine Club of Pakistan. He said the purpose of the expedition was to summit a never-before scaled peak in the Andaq Valley in the country’s north. Haidri said that while ascending the mountain Friday, Shinji Tamura slipped and fell at an altitude of 5,380 meters (17,650 feet). Haidri told The Associated Press that the man’s colleague, Semba Takayasu, was injured when he was hit by something, presumably a piece of rock. However, he said Takayasu later safely managed to reach the base camp to seek help from local authorities. Haidri said a search team was quickly sent to the area where th...Efforts to improve DPS community relations

New coach. New staff. Broncos still can’t shake this injury bug.

Blaming Loren Landow for what ailed the post-PFM Broncos was, pun intended, always a bit of a stretch. And, yeah, we saw the numbers. Denver led the NFL last fall with 23 players on injured reserve, according to Spotrac.com, while the Broncos’ $67.1 million in cap money on IR ranked third behind Tennessee ($104.7 million) and Arizona ($79.6 million). It was the third straight year in which the franchise ranked among the NFL’s top five squads in one, or both, negative superlatives. The Walton-Penners unofficially put Landow, the Broncos’ head strength and conditioning coach since March 2018, on notice last December following the Christmas Day Massacre/Patrick Star Debacle. Sean Payton came aboard as the new face of the franchise about five weeks after that, bringing in his own crew. Landow, no shock, quietly turned in his key card.Fast forward six months, and the new band is playing the same, sad little tune. With P.J. Locke joining the party, only two NFL franchises as of 4 p.m. Tuesd...CU Buffs developing depth at outside linebacker

With two outs, Ozuna launched his 24th homer of the season over the center-field wall for a three-run shot. The homer extended Ozuna’s hitting streak to 13 games and gave the Braves a major league-best 120 first-inning runs. The last-place Yankees dropped to 12-22 since July 4, falling to .500 for the first time since they were 15-15.If the Braves complete the sweep on Wednesday, New York (60-60) would drop under .500 at least 120 games into a season for the first time since the Yankees were 60-61 on Sept. 5, 1995, according to the Elias Sport...Latest news
